Volume 2 continues with the original recordings from the Storyville archives, this collection dating from 1969-1971. Featuring guest appearances by Art Hodes and American clarinettist Albert Nicholas. This CD is a valuable document of the Bue scene at the turn of the seventies, which sounds just as fresh now as when it was recorded over a quarter of a century ago. No "sell by" dates here!

The second of two Storyville CD documenting Papa Bue Jensen's Viking Jazz Band during an era when Dixieland was far from popular, this set (subtitled "The Complete Original Recordings, Vol. 2") has all of Jensen's recordings from Dec. 1969-Nov. 1971, except for a German concert released elsewhere by Storyville. The excellent New Orleans-style band (which features trumpeter Finn Otto Hansen, singer Bjarne "Liller" Petersen and clarinetist Jorgen Svare) is heard in top form throughout the set. There are also a few guest appearances from veteran clarinetist Albert Nicholas. Well worth picking up by trad jazz fans, along with Volume One (Everybody Loves Saturday Night). ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide

Leader of the Viking Jazz Band beginning in 1956, Papa Bue Jensen is an excellent dixieland trombonist who has been active for decades in Denmark. He had recorded with Chris Barber before forming his group (which, during 1956-1958, was known simply as the New Orleans Jazz Band). Through the years, the band has recorded (sometimes for Storyville or Timeless) with such American guests as George Lewis, Wingy Manone, Wild Bill Davison, Edmond Hall, Champion Jack Dupree, Albert Nicholas, and Art Hodes. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
