   Harold Alexander
Active Decades: '60s and '70s Genre: Jazz Styles: Jazz-Funk, Soul Jazz, Hard Bop
Competent saxophonist and flutist whose early and mid-'70s albums for Flying Dutchman and Atlantic blended originals, soul/jazz and R&B effectively. Alexander was a more dynamic soloist on flute; the 1971 release Are You Ready contained good remakes of "High Heel Sneakers" and "Watermelon Man," and was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival. ---Ron Wynn, All Music Guide |
