Dinah Washington skirted the boundaries of blues, jazz and popular music, becoming the most treasured black female recording artist of the '50s along the way. This excellent recording from the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, Rhode Island finds Dinah in fine form flanked by the likes of Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Sahib Shihab (baritone saxophone), Terry Gibbs (vibraphone), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul West (bass) and Max Roach (drums).
